Executive Creative Director
Saatchi & Saatchi Australia

David Nobay

David is more widely known as "Nobby".

After studying Fine Arts in the UK, he made the logical first step of becoming a direct marketing copywriter at Ogilvy and Mather Direct, London. After just eight months and several hundred Amex mailpacks, he was promoted to Creative Group Head; the youngest, at the time, in the entire O&M network.

Nobby then spent the next 18 years bouncing around the globe, including stints as Creative Director in London, Hong Kong, Melbourne, San Francisco, New York and, most recently, Sydney Australia.

In that time, he's founded one tragically unsuccessful agency, and one reasonably profitable one. His name has also been linked with all the major award shows, including Cannes, One Show, D&AD and Clio. He was also named on Archive Magazine's top ten most featured copywriters of the Millennium (he squeezed in at nine!).

In 2004, he represented Australia on the Cannes Film Jury, and Clio for Film in 2005. In 2006, he became the first Australian-based judge to be requested on both the One Show and D&AD Jury.

Since assuming his position as ECD of Saatchi & Saatchi in Sydney in 2003, the agency has been named Australian Agency of the Year three years in a row: a record in Australian Advertising history.

In the 2005 Gunn Report, Saatchi & Saatchi Sydney was ranked the 25th most awarded office in the world; the highest ranking an Australian agency had ever achieved. In 2006, Saatchi Sydney scored a haul of six Lions and 29 finalists at Cannes; narrowly missing number three spot in Cannes' own worldwide ranking.

He also sits on the Saatchi & Saatchi World-Wide Creative Board.

Outside advertising, Nobby's interests include yo-yo dieting and facial hair.
