President, DDB Mexico

Raul Cardos

Raul was born in Mexico DF, in 1968. He began his career as a copywriter in Leo Burnett Mexico in 1990. Three years later, he was promoted to Creative Director when he was already one of the most awarded copywriters in the industry. In 1996 he took a job in Ogilvy as executive creative director, where he won the first Cannes Lion for Mexico in 25 years. In 1998 he moved to DDB Mexico as VP, Executive Creative Director and in June of 2003 he was promoted to President of the agency. His work for various clients has been awarded in Cannes, Fiap, Clio, London Festivals, One Show and D&AD as well as Mexico’s Circulo Creativo, among others. DDB is one if the most awarded agencies in Mexico and the only one to be named “Agency of the Year” for six years in a row: 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006. He currently leads DDB Latinamerica’s Regional Creative Board and has been member of the jury in different local and international festivals such as Cannes, Fiap, San Sebastian and the Circulo Creativo of Mexico, acting two times as President of the Jury. Raul defines advertising as his “second best” dream job, because he would have loved to be a professional soccer player, a sport that he still practices in an amateur league every Saturday and Sunday. Raul is married to Diana and he is the father of what he considers “his best four ideas” by far: Ximena, Sebastian, Emiliano and Nicolas.
