Named in Creativity Magazine’s annual “Creativity 50” in 2008, Rei Inamoto is one of the most influential individuals in the marketing and creative industry at large today.

With a broad international experience in Asia, Europe and the US as well as an unusual combination of background in advertising, design and technology, Rei brings a unique perspective to marketing and creativity.

Rei is Chief Creative Officer of AKQA, responsible for delivering world-wide creative solutions for the agency’s global clients including Nike, Xbox, Coca-cola and Microsoft. Since joining AKQA in 2004, Rei has helped the agency win several key accounts such as Coca-cola and McDonald’s. Also, his presence at the agency has been instrumental in bringing AKQA the highest recognitions. AKQA received multiple Agency of the Year accolades in the last two years and was named one of the Fast Company’s 50 Most Innovative Companies in 2008 among Google and Apple.

Rei is one of the most award-winning individuals in the creative industry, having won numerous grand prix and gold’s at various award shows such as the Cannes International Advertising Festival, One Show and Clio Advertising Festival among others. He has been recognized as one of the world’s top 5 creatives in the interactive industry.

Rei was the Jury Chair for the Art Directors Club 86th Annual Awards in 2007 as well as the Clio International Advertising Awards in 2006. Over the years, he has served on many juries - One Show, New York Festival and Webby’s to name a few. In 2004, Rei was named one of the Young Guns by the Art Directors Club, which annually selects the best young talents working in the design and advertising industry. More recently in 2008, he was elected as Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Art Directors Club.

Before joining AKQA, Rei was the Executive Creative Director for R/GA, another notable agency. During his five-year tenure at R/GA, Rei worked on main accounts such as Nike, Purina, CableVision and Reuters’ digital signage project on Times Square. Prior to R/GA, Rei worked at Blue Marble ACG, a boutique advertising firm in New York City. His accounts ranged from Cadillac, General Motors to Proctor & Gamble.

Born in Tokyo and educated in Europe, Rei graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Michigan with a BFA in Mixed Media and BA in Computer Science.

Rei currently resides in San Francisco with his wife and their newborn son.
